Representative Jean Wagenius, Chair of the Committee, called the joint meeting to order at 1:13 P.M. on January 7, 2008 in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Daniel Wheeler and Sarah Christopherson of the University of Minnesota Water Resources Center testified on small communities' wastewater needs and the Onsite Sewage Treatment Program.

Dr. Roger Ruan and Bob Polta of the University of Minnesota testified on algae biodiesel research.

Dr. Timothy LaPara and William Arnold of the University of Minnesota testified on pharmaceutical and microbiological pollution.

Mike Sandusky, Director of Environmental Analysis and Outcomes for the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, testified on regulatory efforts aimed at endocrine-disrupting compounds.

Wendy Turri, Municipal Wastewater Section Manager for the MPCA, testified in response to questions from members.

Jeff Freeman and Terry Kuhlman of the Minnesota Public Facilities Authority testified on wastewater project financing.

Bill Dunn of the MPFA testified on the project priority list and scoring criteria.

Louis Smith, Chair of the Clean Water Council, provided an update on the Council's activities.


The committee adjourned at 4:14 P.M.
