Chair Anderson called the joint meeting to order at 9:12 A.M. on January 11, 2008 in Room 123 of the State Capitol.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Thom Peterson, William Schroeer, and Bill Dougherty of the Center for Climate Strategies testified on the Minnesota Climate Change Advisory Group process, the statewide emissions inventory and forecast by sector, technical working group progress, and policy options under consideration by MCCAG.

The committee recessed at 12:05 P.M.

The committee reconvened at 1:15 P.M.

DNR Commissioner Mark Holsten gave an overview of trends in Minnesota's outdoor recreation system.

Courtland Nelson, Director of State Parks with the DNR, testified on park redevelopment and rebuilding and took questions on the proposed state park at Lake Vermilion.

Forrest Boe, Director of Trails and Waterways, testified on funding for the operation and maintenance of the state trail system.

Judy Erickson, Government Relations Director for the Parks and Trails Council, testified on their bonding priorities for 2008.


The committee adjourned at 3:40 P.M.
