MINUTES



Representative Ray Vandeveer, Chairman of the Property and Local Tax Division Committee, called the twenty-first meeting to order at 10:21 AM on Wednesday, March 15, 2006, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

The Chair moved HF 2683.

Testifying in support of HF 2683 was:
-Mr. Mel Mettler, Chairman of the Board of Columbus Township
-Ms. Lona Schreibar, on behalf of Rhonda Sivarajah for Anoka County
-Mr. Kent Selum, Assn of MN Townships

Testifying in opposition to HF 2683 was:
-Mr. Chip Robinson, City Administrator for the city of Forest Lake

The Chair moved approval of the minutes: March 9, 2006. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Discussion continued on HF 2683.

Testifying in opposition to HF 2683 was:
-Mr. Craig Johnson, from the League of MN Cities

The Chair laid over HF 2683.

Rep. NELSON assumed the position of Chair at 11:03 AM.

The Department of Revenue made a presentation on the Assessment and Classification Practices Report.

Testifying on behalf of the Department of Revenue was:
-Mr. Gordon Folkman, Director of Property Tax Division
-Mr. Gary Amundson, Regional Representative of the Property Tax Division
-Mr. Steve Kuha, County Assessor from Cass County

Rep. VANDEVEER re-assumed the position of Chair at 11:10 AM.

Testifying in support of the Department of Revenue was:
-Mr. Joel Carlson, Congress of MN Resorts

The Chair adjourned the meeting at 11:40 AM.
