MINUTES


Representative Bob Gunther, Chair of the Jobs & Economic Opportunity Policy & Finance Committee, called the twenty-sixth meeting to order at 8:24 a.m., on Tuesday, March 8, 2005, in Room 10 of the State Office Building.

The Clerk noted the roll.

A quorum was present.


H. F. 0434 (Demmer) A bill for an act relating to economic development; appropriating money for the joint partnership between the University of Minnesota and the Mayo Clinic for research in biotechnology and medical genomics.
H. F. 1548 (Kohls) A bill for an act relating to economic development; appropriating money to the Board of Regents of the University of Minnesota for biotechnology and medical genomics research.
Representative Bradley moved HF434 and HF1548 to be before the committee and recommended that HF434 and HF1548 both pass and be re-referred to the Committee on Commerce and Financial Institutions.

Representative Bradley moves to adopt Amendment H1548DE1. The motion prevails and Amendment H1548DE1 was adopted.

Representative Kohls presented HF1548.

Representative Demmer presented HF434.

Testifying on HF434 and HF1548:

Twila Brase, President, Citizens’ Council on Healthcare

Representative Bradley renewed his motion to recommend passage of HF1548, as amended, and to be re-referred to the Committee on Commerce and Financial Institutions. The motion prevailed and HF1548 was recommended to pass, as amended, and be re-referred to the Committee on Commerce and Financial Institutions.

Representative Bradley renewed his motion to recommend passage of HF0434 and to be re-referred to the Committee on Commerce and Financial Institutions. The motion prevailed and HF0434 was recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on Commerce and Financial Institutions.

Representative Westerberg moved to approve the Minutes of March 1, 2 and 3, 2005. The motion prevailed and the Minutes of March 1, 2 and 3, 2005 were approved.


The meeting was adjourned at 9:53 am.
