MINUTES
Representative Bud Nornes, Chair of the Committee on Higher Education, called the twenty-fourth meeting to order at 10:13 AM on Thursday, April 14, 2005, in Room 300S of the State Office Building.
The Clerk noted the roll.

10:13:24 AM Chair Nornes called the meeting to order.
10:13:36 AM Rep. Carlson moved the minutes: April 11, 2005. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
10:13:58 AM HF1697 (Dill) Mineral research funds transferred to the University of Minnesota for core sampling at the Tower-Soudan mine complex, and money approprated.
Rep. Opatz moved HF1697 for possible inclusion in the Higher Education Finance Omnibus Bill.
10:14:23 AM Rep. Dill presented his bill.
10:28:56 AM Doug Berg, House Fiscal Analyst, explained the fiscal implications of HF1697.
10:29:53 AM Donna Peterson, University of Minnesota, testified on the bill.
10:33:57 AM Rep. Opatz renewed his motion. CHAIR NORNES LAID HF1697 OVER FOR POSSIBLE INCLUSION IN THE HIGHER EDUCATION FINANCE OMNIBUS BILL.
10:34:35 AM Chair Nornes drew members' attention to the invitation to the Strategies for a Vital Health Professions Workforce Conference. (see attached)
10:34:47 AM HF1047 (Cox) State adjunct to the federal educational Upward Bound or Talent Search Trio programs created, and money appropriated.
Rep. Cox moved HF1047 for possible inclusion in the Higher Education Finance Omnibus Bill.
10:35:08 AM Rep. Cox presented his bill.
10:39:59 AM Bruce Schelski, Director of TRIO at the University of Minnesota General College.
10:51:25 AM Rep. Cox continued his presentation.
11:21:37 AM Rep. Cox renewed his motion. CHAIR NORNES LAID HF1047 OVER FOR POSSIBLE INCLUSION IN THE HIGHER EDUCATION FINANCE OMNIBUS BILL.
11:22:05 AM Chair Nornes noted the next meeting would be on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 to hear the Higher Education Finance Omnibus Bill.
11:27:26 AM Chair Nornes adjourned the meeting.
