Representative Kathy Tingelstad, Chair of the Governmental Operations and Veterans Affairs Committee, called the thirty fourth meeting to order 10:26 AM on Wednesday, April 06, 2005, in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Clerk noted the roll.

10:26:13 AM Representative Tina Liebling moved the approval of the minutes of Tuesday, April 5, 2005. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF2289 (Mullery) relating to veterans affairs; authorizing the commissioner of veterans affairs to establish a program of outreach to minority veterans; appropriating money; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 197.

10:27:39 AM Representative Tingelstad moved that HF2289 be passed and be re-referred to the Committee on State Government Finance.

10:27:54 AM The following witnesses testified regarding HF2289:

10:53:50 AM Representative Tingelstad renewed her motion that HF2289 be passed and be re-referred to the Committee on State Government Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE BILL WAS PASSED.

HF2143 (Tingelstad) resolution memorializing the President, Congress, and the United States Postal Service to maintain current levels of service.

10:54:27 AM Representative Severson assumed the gavel at 10:54 AM.

10:55:14 AM Representative Tingelstad moved that HF2143 be passed and be re-referred to the Committee on Rules and Legislative Administration.


10:55:32 AM Representative Tingelstad moved to amend HF2143 as follows:

Page 3, line 19, delete "Secretary of State" and insert "Chairs of the House and Senate Governmental Operations Committees"
Page 3, line 20, delete "is" and insert "are"

THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

11:47:43 AM Representative Kahn renewed her motion that HF1368 be passed and be sent to the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE BILL WAS PASSED.
