MINUTES


Representative Buesgens, Chair of the Education Policy and Reform Committee, called the nineteenth meeting to order at 5:04PM on Tuesday, March 29, 2005, in Room 200 of the State Office Building. A quorum was present.

The Clerk noted the roll.

HF68 (Urdahl): Coaching contract nonrenewal timely notice and opportunity to respond required.

Rep. Buesgens moved that HF68 be recommended to pass and be placed on the General Register.

Buesgens moved the 68A1 amendment to HF68. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. Urdahl presented HF68, as amended.

Rep. Buesgens renewed his motion that HF68, as amended, be recommended to pass and be recommended to pass and be placed on the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1210 (Ruud): Student information and reporting system established, contracting specified, and money appropriated.

Rep. Ruud moved that HF1210 be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the committee on Education Finance.

Rep. Ruud presented HF1210.

Rep. Ruud moved the H1210A1 amendment to HF1210. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. Ruud moved the H1210DE2 delete everything amendment to HF1210.

Rep. Ruud incorporated the following oral amendment to the H1210DE2 amendment:
Page 1, line 15, after “districts”, insert “, at the election of individual districts,”.

Rep. Ruud renewed her motion to adopt the H1210DE2 delete everything amendment to HF1210. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. Ruud renewed her motion that HF1210 as amended be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the committee on Education Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1172 (Olson): Local government state mandate opt-out provided.

Rep. Olson moved that HF1172 be recommended to pass and be placed on the general register.

Rep. Erickson assumed the gavel at 6:37PM.

Rep. Olson presented HF1172.

Rep. Erickson moved to orally amend HF1172 as follows:

THE MOTION DID NOT PREVAIL. THE AMENDMENT WAS NOT ADOPTED.

Rep. Carlson called for a division.
THERE BEING 10 AYES AND 9 NAYS, THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Rep. Marquart moved approval of the March 23, 2005 minutes. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:27PM.
