EXPLANATION OF THE CONSENT CALENDAR
Bills
on the Consent Calendar may be considered for final passage by the House today.
Each bill has had two prior readings and has been acted upon by one or more
standing committees. Each bill has been
printed and copies have been placed on the members' desks for at least one
day. Bills on the Consent Calendar did
not appear on the General Register. Bills on the Consent Calendar were placed
there by a recommendation of a standing committee which considered the bill to
be noncontroversial. Pursuant to the
Rules of the House, bills may be removed from the Consent Calendar and placed
on the General Register if ten members object to the bill because it is
controversial. Amendments may be
offered to bills on the Consent Calendar and each bill is given a third reading
prior to final roll call.
