Obtaining license. (a) Notwithstanding section
97B.020, a person with

2.5permanent physical disability or developmental disability may obtain a firearms hunting
2.6license with a provisional firearms safety certificate issued under section
97B.015,
2.7subdivision 6

2.8(b) Any person accompanying or assisting a person with
a permanent physical disability
2.9or developmental disability under this section must possess a valid firearms safety certificate
2.10issued by the commissioner.
2.11 Subd. 3.
Assistance required. A person who obtains a firearms hunting license under
2.12subdivision 2 must be accompanied and assisted by a parent, guardian, or other adult
person
2.13designated by a parent or guardian when hunting. A person who is not hunting but is
solely
2.14accompanying and assisting a person with
a permanent physical disability or developmental
2.15disability need not obtain a hunting license.
2.16 Subd. 4.
Prohibited activities. (a) This section does not entitle a person to possess a
2.17firearm if the person is otherwise prohibited from possessing a firearm under state
or federal
2.18law or a court order.
2.19(b) No person shall knowingly authorize or permit a person
, who by reason of
a permanent
2.20physical disability or developmental disability is incapable of safely possessing a firearm

2.21to possess a firearm to hunt in the state or on any boundary water of the state."
