1.3Page 1, delete lines 21 to 24 and insert:
"1.4    Subd. 4. Exception. This section does not apply to an unmanned aerial vehicle
1.5operated by a law enforcement agency, fire department, or emergency medical service
1.6provider if:
1.7(1) the law enforcement agency, fire department, or emergency medical service
1.8provider operating the unmanned aerial vehicle establishes radio communications with
1.9the pilot of the public safety helicopter;
1.10(2) the pilot of the public safety helicopter (i) determines dual operation is safe
1.11and does not pose a threat to the public safety helicopter's mission, and (ii) notifies the
1.12law enforcement agency, fire department, or emergency medical service provider that
1.13operation of the unmanned aerial vehicle is authorized;
1.14(3) the unmanned aerial vehicle operates no closer than 500 feet from the public
1.15safety helicopter and the identified landing zone; and
1.16(4) operation of the unmanned aerial vehicle within the landing zone area does not
1.17begin until after the law enforcement agency, fire department, or emergency medical
1.18service provider has received authorization from the pilot of the public safety helicopter.
