State and local officials previewed MNsure’s upcoming open enrollment period, IT improvements and recently-approved rate increases for House and Senate members during a Thursday meeting of the MNsure Legislative Oversight Committee.
Lawmakers quizzed representatives from the state’s commerce and human services departments, as well as MNsure and MN.IT — the state’s information technology provider — on issues facing the state’s fledgling insurance exchange.
Among these issues are big jumps in 2016 insurance rates for plans purchased through MNsure’s individual marketplace. Average rate increases on the family and individual market will range from 14 percent to 49 percent; state commerce officials have called these hikes “unacceptably” high and lawmakers on Thursday questioned what led to the 2016 hikes.
