Sports facilities commission updated on stadium progress

The stadium that will house the Minnesota Vikings was the only item discussed during a Wednesday meeting of the Legislative Commission on Minnesota Sports Facilities.

Michele Kelm-Helgen, chairwoman of the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority—the public body that oversees construction of U.S. Bank Stadium—updated the commission.

Kelm-Helgen says stadium construction is 75 percent complete and that the roof is almost finished.

Other topics addressed included naming rights, economic impact and events scheduled to be held at the U.S. Bank Stadium, including Super Bowl LII and the 2019 NCAA Men’s Final Four basketball games.
