House holds a two-day marathon to close out 2014 session

The Legislature was able to complete its work for the 2014 session on Friday, three days short of the May 19 constitutional deadline, but it took a marathon two days to do so.
Thursday, the lawmakers worked well past midnight and reconvened later Friday morning to finish the work. They passed and sent to the governor two bonding bills, a second omnibus tax bill, a bill calling for a medical marijuana study and lastly, the $263.5 million supplemental spending bill.
Before sine die, House members who have announced they will not be seeking re-election to their seats said their public goodbyes:

- Rep. Michael Beard (R-Shakopee)
- Rep. Mike Benson (R-Rochester)
- Rep. John Benson (DFL-Minnetonka)
- Rep. Kathy Brynaert (DFL-Mankato)
- Rep. David FitzSimmons (R-Albertville)
- Rep. Mary Liz Holberg (R-Lakeville)
- Rep. Thomas Huntley (DFL-Duluth)
- Rep. Andrea Kieffer (R-Woodbury)
- Rep. Ernie Leidiger (R-Mayer)
- Rep. Pam Myhra (R-Burnsville)
- Rep. Michael Paymar (DFL-St. Paul)
- Rep. Kelby Woodard (R-Belle Plaine)
- Rep. Kurt Zellers (R-Maple Grove)
