Tick, tick, tick …

That’s the sound of the clock winding down on the 2016 session. Just over three weeks remain until the Legislature has to be done with its work. Now that the House and Senate have approved their respective supplemental budget bills — in a traditional non-budget year — maybe a conference committee will get together in the coming week to begin seeing if an agreement can be hashed out between the far-differing state spending plans.

The transportation conference committee got together Friday, but tax bill conferees continue to wait for a meeting announcement and House and Senate bonding proposals remain under wraps.

Before looking ahead to next week let’s take a look at what you may have missed the past five days.

Stay up-to-date on House news and updates throughout the week at Session Daily.
