ST. PAUL State Representative Mark Buesgens, R-Jordan, announced this week he will author legislation that will provide state license plates at no cost to Minnesota residents who had been honorably discharged from the U.S. military. Buesgens said it was another way we could honor their service to the state and nation.
"Today we have men and women who dedicate their lives to the future of this nation," Buesgens said. "There is nothing this state or nation could do to honor or recognize our veterans to the extent they deserve. We need to seek out ways we can honor them."
Under Buesgens proposal, any service man or women who had served in any branch of the U.S. military and received an honorable discharge would receive state license plate at no charge.

"Thousands of men and women paid a high price to secure our freedom," Buesgens continued. "We need to demonstrate to our service men and women that their sacrifices are highly valued and appreciated. I can't think of a better way than to publically show our support to them through a program that will recognize and reward them for their efforts.
Buesgens represents the cities of Jordan, Shakopee and Prior Lake. He serves on the Education Policy, K-12 Education Finance and Transportation Policy Committees.
