ST. PAUL Speaker of the House Steve Sviggum has appointed State Representative Mark Buesgens (R- Jordan) to the Minnesota Commission on Educational Reform and Accountability.
The Commission on Educational Reform and Accountability serves to promote public understanding of and support for policies and practices that help Minnesota students attain world class education outcomes and succeed in the 21st century. The commission recently finished a report on education governance issues, which includes recommendations on the roles of the Legislature, executive branch and local school boards in making policy and administering the education system.
"Mark Buesgens has already established himself as a legislator with a deep concern for not only the people of his district, but for the people of Minnesota and their children," Sviggum said. "His extensive knowledge of education issues and his desire to ensure efficient and effective government will prove to be invaluable."
"I am honored to be a part of the commission," Buesgens said. "It is my hope that we can continue to guide smart, responsible government that will better serve the people of Minnesota. I pledge to do my part to conduct a thorough, responsible commission that will place issues ahead of partisanship, acting in the best interests of every citizen."
Buesgens is the only House appointment to the commission.
