ST. PAUL -- Minnesota House of Representatives Speaker Steve Sviggum (R-Kenyon) recently appointed Rep. Mark Buesgens (R-Jordan) to the position of House Republican Whip. Buesgens and six other Whips will assist Speaker Sviggum and Majority Leader Tim Pawlenty (R-Eagan) in preparing for and implementing their tax reform agenda for the 2001 Legislative Session.
"Rep. Buesgens is a leader within the Republican Caucus," said Speaker Sviggum. "In his first legislative session, Rep. Buesgens helped pass two permanent tax cuts and two tax rebates for the people of Minnesota. As we push for additional tax cuts this session, the taxpayers of Jordan, Shakopee and Prior Lake can be proud that a proven leader like Rep. Buesgens is working on their behalf."
On January 3rd, Buesgens began his 2nd term in the Minnesota House of Representatives. In addition to his Whip position, this session Buesgens also will serve on the Education Policy, K-12 Education Finance and Local Government Committees.
Buesgens lives in Jordan with his wife, Sara, and their four children. He represents the people of Jordan, Shakopee, Prior Lake and Jackson, Louisville, Sand Creek and Spring Lake Townships.
