LABOR AND INDUSTRY FINANCE AND POLICY COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Michael V. Nelson, Chair of the Labor and Industry Finance and Policy Committee, called the meeting to order at 1:01 P.M. on February 29th, 2024, in Room 10 of the State Office Building. It was broadcast via House Public Information Services.

A quorum was present.

Representative Mekeland moved that the minutes of February 22, 2024, be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF4011 (Berg) Surgical smoke evacuation systems policies required.

Representative Berg moved that HF 4011 be re-referred to the Health Finance and Policy Committee.

Testifying on HF 4011:
• Ann Jones, retired peri-operative registered nurse
• John Zender, current peri-operative registered nurse and firefighter
• Jennifer Pennock, Government Affairs, Association of perioperative Registered Nurses

Representative Berg renewed her motion that HF 4011 be re-referred to the Health Finance and Policy Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 3488 (Stepheson) Compensation provided for minors appearing in Internet content creation.

Chair Nelson moved that HF 3488 be re-referred to the Commerce Finance and Policy Committee.

Chair Nelson moved the H3488A3 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Chair Nelson renews his motion that HF 3488, as amended, be re-referred to the Commerce Finance and Policy Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 3957 (Greenman) Occupational health and safety provisions modified.

Representative Greenman moved that HF 3957 be re-referred to the Judiciary Finance and Civil Law committee.

Testifying on HF 3957:
• Laura Zajac, Deputy Chief General Counsel, Department of Labor and Industry
Representative Greenman renews her motion that HF 3957 be re-referred to the Judiciary Finance and Civil Law Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
