LABOR AND INDUSTRY FINANCE AND POLICY COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Michael V. Nelson, Chair of the Labor and Industry Finance and Policy Committee, called the meeting to order at 1:01 P.M. on February 22nd, 2024, in Room 10 of the State Office Building. It was broadcast via House Public Information Services.

Representative Mekeland moved that the minutes of February 20, 2024, be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 3882 (Olson, L) Earned sick and safe time modified, and rulemaking authorized.

Representative Berg moves that HF 3882 be re-referred to the General Register.

Representative Berg moved H3882A1 amendment.

Testifying on the H3882A1 amendment:
• Captain David Forbes

Representative Schultz motioned to lay the H3882A1 amendment on the table. THE MOTION DID NOT PREVAIL.

Representative Berg renews her motion to adopt the H3882A1 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILS. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative McDonald moved the H3882A2 amendment.

Representative McDonald moves to amend the H3882A2 amendment to HF 3882, as follows:

“Page 1, delete lines 4 to 7. Renumber the clauses sequence and allow non-partisan staff to make any technical changes necessary to reflect the will of the committee.”

THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS INCORPORATED.

A voice vote was taken on the oral amendment to split the H3882A2 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative McDonald requested a roll call.

Representative McDonald renewed his motion to adopt the HF3882A2 amendment as amended.

HF 3442 (Berg) Commissioner directed to develop a poster regarding employees’ rights.

Representative Berg moves that HF 3442 be laid over for possible inclusion in the omnibus bill.

Representative Berg renews her motion that HF 3442 be laid over for possible inclusions in the omnibus bill.

The bill was laid over.
