PUBLIC SAFETY AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM FINANCE AND POLICY COMMITTEE MINUTES

Representative Mariani, Chair of the Committee on Public Safety and Criminal Justice Reform Finance and Policy, called the virtual meeting to order at 10:38 AM on February 12th, 2021 pursuant to House Rule 10.01. The meeting was broadcast via Zoom and House Public Information Services.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Poston moved that the minutes of February 11th, 2021 be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


Chair Mariani moved that HF 109 be referred to the Committee on Labor.

Representative Noor presented HF 109, a bill for an act relating to public safety; requiring installation of automatic sprinkler systems in certain existing high-rise buildings; authorizing rulemaking; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 299F.

Representative Youakim presented HF 377, as amended, a bill for an act relating to public safety; establishing a program to provide payments to firefighters with cancer or heart disease, counseling for firefighters, and firefighter training; appropriating money; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 299A.

Chair Mariani moved that HF 377 be laid over for possible inclusion in the omnibus bill.


Chair Mariani moved that HF 499 be referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Representative Marquart presented HF 499, a bill for an act relating to public safety; appropriating money for emergency management readiness grants for local planning and preparedness efforts; requiring a report.

Testifying on HF 499:

Chair Mariani moved that HF 499 be laid over for possible inclusion in the omnibus bill.
