MINUTES

Representative Cheryl Youakim, Chair of the Committee, called the meeting to order at 8:39 AM on Friday, March 8, 2019 in Room 120 of the State Capitol Building. A quorum was present.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

HF768 (Edelson) – Child age range increased for school-age care programs, funding for school-age care programs increased, and money appropriated.

Representative Christensen moved to refer HF768 to the Ways and Means Committee.

Representative Edelson introduced HF768.

Jeff Jorgensen, Director of Student Support Services at Edina Public Schools, testified in support of HF768.
Anne Mondragon, Parent of a child with disabilities, testified in support of HF768.
Terry Otremba, Parent of a child with disabilities, testified in support of HF768.
Valerie Burke, Edina Public Schools Community Education Director, testified in support of HF768.

Representative Youakim renewed the motion to refer HF768 to the Ways and Means Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF247 (Kunesh-Podein) – Student access to library media specialist grant program established, and money appropriated.

Representative Kunesh-Podein moved to refer HF247 to the Ways and Means Committee.

Representative Kunesh-Podein introduced HF247.

Sally Mays, Retired Library Media Specialist, testified in support of HF247.
Anne Walker Smalley, Director of MetroNet, testified in support of HF247.
Rick Heller, Unofficial Twice Exceptional and Print Disabled, testified on HF247.

Representative Youakim renewed the motion to refer HF247 to the Ways and Means Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF199 (Urdahl) – Teachers of concurrent enrollment students provided a temporary refundable credit.

Representative Urdahl moved to refer HF199 to the Taxes Committee.

Representative Urdahl introduced HF199.

Representative Youakim renewed the motion to refer HF199 to the Taxes Committee. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
