MINUTES

Representative Loon, Chair of the Education Finance Committee, called the meeting to order at 1:04 P.M. on March 21th, 2018 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Poston moved that the minutes of March 20, 2018 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF3676 Jessup, Reimbursement grants for audits of the physical security of public school cam-puses created, and money appropriated.

Representative Loon moved that HF3676 be re-referred to the Committee on Public Safety and Se-curity Policy and Finance.

Representative Jessup testified on HF3676.

Representative Loon renewed her motion to re-refer HF3676 to the Committee on Public Safety and Security Policy and Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF3885 Christensen, Public school security audit funding provided, and money appropriated.

Representative Loon moved that HF3885 be re-referred to the Committee on Public Safety and Se-curity Policy and Finance.

Representative Christensen testified on HF3885.

Representative Loon renewed her motion to re-refer HF3885 to the Committee on Public Safety and Security Policy and Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF3378 Davnie, Children’s school-linked mental health grant funding provided, and money ap-propriated.

Representative Davnie and Representative Backer testified on HF3378 which was heard on an in-formational basis.

HF3797 Haley, Safe schools revenue increased, safe schools levy equalized, portion of levy avail-able for intermediate school districts linked to the school district per pupil allowance, and money appropriated.

Representative Loon moved that HF3797 be re-referred to the Committee on Taxes.

Representative Loon moved the H3797A2 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Haley testified on HF3797, as amended.

Roger Pohlman, Red Wing Chief of Police, also testified on HF3797, as amended.

Representative Loon laid over HF3797, as amended, for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill or for further action at a later date.

HF3599 Wills, Safe School levy increased, and portion of the levy available for intermediate school districts linked to the school districts per pupil allowance.

Representative Loon moved that HF3599 be re-referred to the Committee on Taxes.

Representative Wills testified on HF3599.

Dr. John Christiansen, Superintendent of Intermediate District 917, also testified on HF3599.

Representative Loon laid over HF3599 for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill or for further ac-tion at a later date.

HF978 Theis, Support our students grant program funding provided, support our students grant program codified, and money appropriated.

Representative Theis moved that HF978 be re-referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Representative Theis moved the H978A1 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Theis testified on HF978, as amended.
