MINUTES

Representative Bob Gunther, Chair of the Greater Minnesota Economic & Workforce Development Policy Committee, called the meeting to order at 12:47 p.m. on February 12th, 2015, in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative LIEN moved that the minutes of Tuesday, February 10, 2015 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Kiel moved that HF211 (Kiel, D.) be recommended to pass and be re-referred to the Committee on Health and Human Services Finance.

Representative Kiel, D. presented HF211 (Rural mental health professionals, public health nurses, dental therapists, and advanced dental therapists added to the health professional education loan forgiveness program; and money appropriated).

Representative Kiel moved the H0211A2 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Testifying before committee were the following in favor of HF211:

Steve Gottwalt, Executive Director, Minnesota Rural Health Association;
Dr. Chuck Sawyer, Senior Vice President, Northwestern Health Sciences University;
Mark Schoenbaum, Director, Office of Rural Health and Primary Care, Minnesota Department of Health;
Sue Abderholden, Executive Director, National Alliance on Mental Illness;
Kathleen Picard, Physical Therapist, State Legislative Chair of the Minnesota Physical Therapy Association.

Representative Kiel renewed the motion that HF211 pass, as amended, and be re-referred to the committee on Health and Human Services Finance. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:00 p.m.
