MINUTES

Representative Holberg, Chair of the Ways and Means Committee, called the meeting to order at 8:00 A.M. on May 13, 2011, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Holberg officially called the meeting to order at 8:04 A.M. A quorum was present.

HF104 (Smith): Department of corrections claim settlements provided, and money appropriated.

Representative Smith moved HF 104 be recommended to pass and be placed on the General Register.

Testifying on HF 104:

Craig Lindeke, Senior Assistant Revisor, Office of the Revisor of Statutes

Representative Smith moved the A11-0346 Amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Smith renewed his motion that HF 104, as amended, be recommended to pass and be placed on the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Kiffmeyer moved to approve the minutes from the committee meeting on May 11, 2011. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF556 (Smith): Juvenile prostitutes in need of protection or services provisions amended, sexually exploited youth defined, prostitution crime penalty assessments increased, and distribution of the assessment amended; prostitution laws provisions clarified and recodified, and definitions modified; money appropriated to the commissioner of public safety to develop a statewide victim services model.

Representative Smith moved HF 556 be recommended to pass and be placed on the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF988 (Smith): Public defender representation provision modified.

Representative Smith moved HF 988 be recommended to pass and be placed on the General Register.

Representative Smith renewed his motion that HF 988 be recommended to pass and be placed on the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1478 (Kiffmeyer): Minnesota sex offender program provisions modified.

Representative Kiffmeyer moved HF 1478 be recommended to pass and be placed on the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF250 (Anderson, B.): Claims against the state provisions changed and updated.

Representative Anderson, B. moved HF 250 be recommended to pass and be placed on the General Register.

Representative Kahn moved to orally amend HF 250 as follows:

Page 3, line 21, delete "$1,000" and insert "$1,250"

Representative Westrom moved to orally amend HF 250, as amended, as follows:

Page 4, line 11, delete "$10" and insert "$20"

THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE ORAL AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Anderson, B. renewed his motion that HF 250, as amended, be recommended to pass and be placed on the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.
