MINUTES

Representative Holberg, Chair of the Ways and Means Committee, called the meeting to order at 6:30 P.M. on April 23, 2012, in Room 200 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Holberg officially called the meeting to order at 6:31 P.M. A quorum was present.

SF1856 (Kriesel): Lawful gambling licensed organizations authority to contribute net profits to 501©(19) organizations.

Representative Holberg moved SF 1856 for consideration by the committee.

THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Holberg called a recess of the meeting at 8:41 P.M.

Representative Holberg reconvened the meeting at 9:08 P.M.

Representative Kahn moved the S1856A12 Amendment.

Testifying on the S1856A12 Amendment:

THE MOTION DID NOT PREVAIL. THE AMENDMENT WAS NOT ADOPTED.

Representative Kahn moved the S1856A3 Amendment.

Representative Kahn incorporated the following oral amendment to the S1856A3 Amendment:

Page 1, line 1, after "the" delete "first unofficial engrossment" and insert "delete everything amendment"
Page 1, line 3, delete "37" and insert "83", delete "29" and insert "31"
Page 1, line 4, delete "2" and insert "8"

Representative Kahn moved the S1856A3 Amendment, as amended. THE MOTION DID NOT PREVAIL. THE AMENDMENT WAS NOT ADOPTED.

Representative Carlson moved the S1856A17 Amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Champion moved the S1856A13 Amendment. THE MOTION DID NOT PREVAIL. THE AMENDMENT WAS NOT ADOPTED.

Representative Holberg moved to orally amend the S1856DE3 Amendment, as amended, as follows:

Page 29, line 6, delete ", subdivisions 43 and 44"

THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Rukavina moved to orally amend the S1856DE3 Amendment, as amended, as follows:

Page 20, lines 35 and 36, delete ", to the greatest extent possible, constructed of American-made steel." and insert "built with American-made steel that is made from Minnesota iron ore."

THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.


Representative Holberg renewed her motion that SF1856, as amended, be moved to the General Register without recommendation. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF1485 (Kriesel): Lawful gambling tax rates modified; linked bingo, electronic pull-tabs, and sports-themed tipboard games provided for; clarifying, conforming, and technical changes made; and money appropriated.

Representative Holberg moved HF 1485 for consideration by the committee.

Representative Holberg moved to insert the language of SF 1856, as amended, to HF 1485. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Holberg moved HF 1485, as amended, be moved to the General Register without recommendation. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:55 P.M.
