GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS AND ELECTIONS

MINUTES

Representative Peppin Chair of the Government Operations and Elections Committee, called the meeting to order at 10:20 a.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2011 in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

No members were excused.

A quorum was present.

Representative Winkler moved approval of the minutes from February 16, 2011. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE MINUTES WHERE APPROVED.

H.F. 281 (Carlson) State primary election returns canvassing time increased.

Representative Nelson moved that H.F. 281 be recommended to pass and placed on the General Register.

Representative Nelson moved the H0281DE3 amendment. THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Nelson renewed his motion that H.F. 281 be recommended to pass, as amended, and placed on the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED, AND H.F. 281 WAS RECOMMENDED TO PASS.

Representative Murray assumed the gavel at 10:35 a.m.

H.F. 52 (Peppin) City, county, and town zoning control and ordinance variances provided.

Representative Peppin moves that H.F. 52 be recommended to pass and placed on the General Register.

Representative Beard moved the H0052A1 amendment. A roll call vote was requested by Representative Winkler

On a vote of 10 AYES and 5 NAYS, THE MOTION PREVAILED AND THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Simon moved that the bill be tabled and requested a roll-call vote.

On a vote of 6 AYES and 9 NAYS, THE MOTION DID NOT PREVAIL.

Representative Peppin renewed her motion that H.F. 52 be recommended to pass as amended. THE MOTION PREVAILED, AND H.F. 52 WAS RECOMMENDED TO PASS AS AMENDED.

H.F. 305 (Persell) Northern Township detached facility authorized.

Representative Sanders moved that bill pass and placed on general register.

Representative Sanders renewed his motion that H.F. 305 be recommended to pass. THE MOTION PREVAILED, AND H.F. 305 WAS RECOMMENDED.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:50 a.m.
