MINUTES


Representative Joe Atkins, Chair of the Commerce and Labor Committee, called the meeting to order at 4:38 P.M. on February 23, 2010, in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.


Representative Sanders moved that the minutes of February 16, 2010 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


SF 1778 (Atkins) Congress of the United States memorialized to oppose enactment of legislation of the substance and tenor of the National Insurance Act of 2007.

Representative Atkins moved to reconsider the vote on SF 1778. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Atkins moved that SF 1778 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the General Register. THE MOTION PREVAILED.


HF 2613 (Hilstrom) Mediation provided prior to commencement of mortgage foreclosure proceedings on homestead property, and homestead-lender mediation account created.

Representative Davnie moved that the Committee Report on HF 2613 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Johnson moved that the Committee Report on HF 170 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

HF 2879 (Bigham) Minors allowed to contract for automobile insurance.

Representative Atkins moved HF 2879.

Representative Atkins moves to orally amend HF 2879 as follows:
Lines 1.7 and 1.8, after "insurance", delete " to the same extent as an adult" . THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

Representative Davnie moved that the Committee Report on HF 1746 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Johnson moved that the Committee Report on HF 2907 be adopted. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Johnson moved the H2907A4 amendment. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
