MINUTES



Representative Otremba, Chair of the Committee, called the meeting to order at 3:40 P.M. on, March 1, 2010, in Room 5 of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

A quorum was present.

Representative Eken moved approval of the minutes from February 22, 2010.
THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE MINUTES WERE ADOPTED.

Representative Doty moved HF 2672 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Finance.

HF2672 (Newton) Transit fee exemption provisions clarified for veterans with service-connected disabilities.

Representative Doty renewed his motion that HF 2672 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Finance.
THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Representative Doty moved SF 2475 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the General Register.

SF2475 (Newton) Veterans of Foreign Wars Day designated as May 28.

Representative Doty renewed his motion that SF 2475 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the General Register.
THE MOTION PREVAILED.


Representative Doty moved HF 2621 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Finance.

Representative Doty moved amend HF 2621 as follows: (see attachment H2621A1).
THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.

HF2621 (Doty) Higher education benefit eligibility requirement eliminated for surviving spouse and children of a deceased veteran who dies as a result of military service.

Representative Doty renewed his motion that HF 262, as amended, be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Finance.
THE MOTION PREVAILED.


Representative Doty moved HF 3101 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Finance.

HF3101 (Doty) Minnesota "Support our Troops: account eligible money use expanded.

Testifying in favor of HF 3101 was:

Michael Pugliese, Deputy Commissioner, Minnesota Department of Veteran Affairs
Eric Ahlness, Department of Military Affairs.

Representative Doty renewed his motion that HF 3101 be recommended to pass and re-referred to the Committee on Finance.
